The World Bank is urging Ghana to increase the number of skilled workers in order to help the country grow faster. This will help to improve the quality of life for everyone in Ghana.
A senior World Bank official said on Friday that the Ghanaian government should increase the level of education and training in the country to help it grow faster.
Jaime Saavedra, the global education director for the World Bank, called the Ghanaian government during the final day of a two-day visit to discuss the strategic vision for education with them.
The president said that we need to focus on building the country’s human capital so that we can have a successful economy.
The bank is very happy with the progress made in terms of free education in Ghana and believes that this will help improve teaching and learning.
He said that we need to have enough money to pay for both basic and senior high school education so that students can learn important skills.
The World Bank has been involved in the Ghanaian education sector for a long time. In particular, the bank has helped teach more than 5.8 million students at the pre-tertiary level. Of these students, 2.87 million are girls.
The bank gave 60 million U.S. dollars to support the development of tertiary institutions in the country.
