Religion in lame term is the practice of believing and worshipping a God or a deity which is believed to have superhuman or supernatural powers. There are many types of religion, Christianity,Islam,Hinduism,Folk religions to mention a few. Let’s have a look at Christianity.
With over billions of followers or worshippers,Christianity is believed to be the most widely religion practiced in the world. Every Christian is believed to be a follower of Jesus Christ. The Christian faith is centered on the Birth,Life,Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
As a true believer,there are things or doings that contradicts the teachings of Christ. There is the ten 10 commandments which were given in the Bible (Exodus 20:13 -17) to serve as a form of guideline,so Christians do not contradict themselves thereby sinning.
But there are some actions which do not conform with the line of Christianity or which do not glorify the Lord but are done because they are not part of the ten commandments. So it is not seen as seen by many even believers. These actions though was not stated categorically in the Bible or among the ten commandments are sins which has consequences and repercussions. One of them is;
MASTURBATION OR SELF GRATIFICATION
This is the practice of stimulating the genitals with the hand or other items for sexual pleasure. The Bible specifically does not address self gratification or masturbation,so many Christians are left wondering if it is a sin while others are already engaging or practicing it.
The Bible tells us that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart (Matthew 5:27 -28). For someone to engage in self gratification, it points to the fact that he or she has imagined having sex. Practicing self gratification without imagining sex with someone is rare. On that basis, the practice is tantamount to engaging in adultery,fornication,homosexual behaviour or any other sexual practice that the mind can imagine. It is also a form of mental pornography which we all know is a sin.
If anyone finds him or herself in this act,he or she should desist and seek or pray for the help of God to get you out of it as it is very addictive. Engaging in this brings about the same repercussions or consequences that comes with going against the ten 10 commandments and even more.
