Some school teachers in the Effutu municipality in the Central region of Ghana have called on the government to provide logistics for the various schools in the country and encourage teachers to effectively teach.
Speaking on behalf of the school, whose name cannot be disclosed stated that, the teachers are ready to pursue their profession, but there are no logistics available for them to use. According to her, the majority of teaching and learning materials are available but limited to certain zones or sectors, causing those assigned to deprived areas to struggle to teach. Some of the needed resources include laboratories, chalk, and textbooks.
According to the teacher, they are really poised to do the work as expected, but the needed logistics are not available and must be provided by the government as soon as possible to help them perform their duties. He added that the materials should be equitably distributed across the country.
This, he said, is due to the unavailability of a data. She also added that, If you don’t have the data, it’s very difficult for you to sit in the comfort of your home and be able to tell that this particular place is deprived. Another teacher also indicated that the governance system in schools should be reviewed, and leadership seminars should be organized for teachers to aid in their leadership skills.
Do you think the government needs to put in more strategic planning in place or you have different view?
